REDLEE/SCS employees were busy again during the past few months contributing to their communities while having fun.

Tulsa Oklahoma

The Tulsa team participated in the BOMA Day of Caring for 9-11.  Marge Clark worked 6 hours at the Domestic Violence Intervention Service cleaning up as well as reorganizing supplies.  Steve Clark, Carol Mills, and Todd Conner worked with other volunteers at the home of one of their Meals On Wheels recipients.  On a rainy day the group removed a dead tree cleaned up a badly overgrown yard, trimmed the trees and bushes and cleaned out the flower beds.  The team spent about 8 hours on the project.

Dallas Texas

In October Dallas team members participated in the 5k Junior Diabetes walk to raise money for the Junior Diabetes Foundation.  REDLEE/SCS and Granite Properties along with others sponsored the event again this year.  The event drew close to 4,000 people this year and took place at the Granite Park site near Frisco, TX.  Walk Participants ran, walked, roller skated, scootered, and biked the 5k.  Vince León walked  the walk and Tom Wachowiak manned the sign up table.

In September John Walker volunteered for

Project Transformation in Oak Cliff to help tutor economically challenged children in reading.  According to John he was reacquainted with Edgar Alan Poe, Winnie the Pooh, and The Hardy Boys.  He also had a great time with a lot of really good kids and hopefully helped them become better readers.

The annual BOMA Adopt-A-Block project also occurred in October and this time there were opportunities for painting, lawn restoration and garage building.  This project took place near Fair Park and included various property managers, assistants, engineers, and vendors who worked together to make this property a much better looking place.

There was a great sense of accomplishment at the end and the only negative effect was that several of the volunteers contracted poison ivy while removing a tree.

Charlotte North Carolina

The Charlotte operations team has decided to adopt a highway and will be responsible for the up keep for a stretch of road in the area.  This should be a great ongoing activity.  Look  for the This Road Is Maintained By REDLEE/SCS sign on the shoulder soon.

Fort Worth Texas

On October 10th, Members of the BOMA Community Committee participated in a project which provides a new pair of athletic shoes for every student at Nash Elementary School, an intercity school

near downtown Fort Worth.  Volunteers were required to try on the new pair of shoes for every student and despite the noise and chaos they made a lot of new friends.  For many of the students this will be their only shoes for the next 12 months.  For the volunteers it will be a feat to remember.  Vince Leon and Fort Worth Operations Manager, John Walker represented REDLEE/SCS.
